Genny Jones is an accountant. She is also the Confident Queen, and the persona came out of something difficult. When she became a single parent she went through a great deal, and when she came out the other side with her confidence back, she decided she wanted to teach other people how to get there too, particularly women and children. So she dresses up, she sings, and she has a good time doing it, on the theory that confidence is a gift kids should be handed early. Her aim is that they grow into adults with resilience who can drive through life with some flair.
It has reached further than a side project usually does. She has been named on The Independent's list of the hundred happy people in the UK making a difference, picked up a Life Changers Award, a Barclays Trading Places Award, and a British Female Inventors and Innovations Network special recognition, and she sang on Britain's Got Talent, where she got a hug out of Simon Cowell. The graphics were the piece she could not crack at first. What changed it was finding ready-made templates, which she says felt like being a child at Christmas, and a free class on video cards that she describes as empowering.
